LOS ALTOS, Calif., July 9, 2015 – Palma Ceia SemiDesign (“PCS”), a provider of analog and RF IP for next-generation WiFi and mobile communications, and NEWRACOM, a technology-intensive global startup in wireless technologies for making everything communicate and be connected, today jointly announced NEWRACOM has selected Palma Ceia as its IP partner in the development of next-generation WiFi chipsets.
“Partnering with NEWRACOM is a significant opportunity to work on the most advanced WiFi technologies under development – and early in the adoption of new standards,” said Greg Walker, chief administrative officer of Palma Ceia. “We are very pleased with NEWRACOM’s selection of PCS as its partner for the development of next-generation WiFi chipsets.”
The companies will develop low-power, high-performance next-generation WiFi chipsets compliant with the standards of 802.11ac and 802.11ah. The 802.11ah standard benefits from lower energy consumption, thereby facilitating machine-to-machine communication in the Internet of Things (IoT). The 802.11ac standard provides high-throughput wireless local area networks (WLANs) on the 5 GHz band.
“We are pleased to work with Palma Ceia SemiDesign and believe they will help us make progress in pursuit of our goal to advance wireless technology,” said Sok Kyu Lee, NEWRACOM’s chief executive officer. “We expect to benefit greatly from Palma Ceia’s expertise in extremely low-power, high-performance chipset design.”
